Tuning the Instruments for S 22 Nov 2012
Slowly tuning all of my instruments to prepare them for a recording session for S. Well, at least all of the instruments that were tune-able.
I realized the other day that some people probably don’t know much about what S is all about so I am considering doing a long writeup on what this project revolves around, and for whom I am making it. All I will tell you right now is that if you do like my music, and like making noises yourself. Then S might be for you. Imagine the ability to be thrown into the world behind the music, and have the ability to affect the music and make it your own.
Think about it as an interactive Ziz release. A Ziz “Choose your own adventure” release, or to be more precise, “Choose your own noise”.
Ideal100 at Fylkingen 28 Oct 2012
A weekend in Stockholm.
iDeal100, Trepaneringsritualen, Fylkingen and Bag full of cassettes, cd’s and records.
Slept in a red boat and repeatedly referred to as “the Icelander”.
Woke up to the sight of a man rowing past my bedroom window in a kayak.
Satisfied.
Black Horizon's BH-50 Provocative Rituals Art Zine 25 Oct 2012
Got this one in mail the other day from Black Horizons. Featuring photographs by yours truly along with artwork by other artists I hold great respect for. A great collection of provocative imagery and a perfect conversation starter by the coffee table.
“Featuring art and writing, all in a theme of violent eroticism, from Josh Lay, Terence Hannum, Jóhannes Gunnar Þorsteinsson, Kevin Gan Yuen, Komissar Hjuler und Mama Baer, Chris Bickel, Genevieve Larson, Ryan Whittier Hale, Thomas Ekelund, and J Hartmann along with lots of Black Horizons design. An object of fantastic transgression, not for the faint of heart. Printed on pearl stock, with black metallic card stock cover and OBI, and a black metallic envelope. Limited to 50 copies.”
Sjö has landed 08 Oct 2012
After 3 trips over the Atlantic ocean (thanks to some shipping complications) Sjö has finally arrived in my hands and I can now without any doubt say that Cameron of Merz Tapes, Kevin Yuen of Viraloptic and Bryan W Bray have done a spectacular job with squeezing the most out of this release of mine both visually, audially and physically.
The soft edged plastic case houses a white C27 cassette and a folded vellum paper J-card displaying beautiful 2 tone artwork by Kevin Yuen. I can’t simply describe how happy I am with how the metallic golden ink plays with the vellum paper. Another extra you won’t see on the digital images of the cover is how the backside artwork shines to the front through the semi transparent vellum paper. Giving us a completely different composition and feel than how the design looked like on screen.
#Obtaining it If you are interested in obtaining a copy your only choice currently is to order it directly from me by contacting me via e-mail as Sjö has been sold out at Merz Tapes as far as I know. There might be some left over at Aquarius Records. I got very limited amount of copies so first come first serve.
Price is 9 USD + shipping.
PS: for those interested, the other tapes on the photograph were a nice little bonus to me from Merz Tapes. Copies of Terrence Hannum’s Final Salt, Meditative Sect’s Laceration Points and Oikos’ Ecotono. All of them highly recommended.

“You want a physicist to speak at your funeral. You want the physicist to talk to your grieving family about the conservation of energy, so they will understand that your energy has not died. You want the physicist to remind your sobbing mother about the first law of thermodynamics; that no energy gets created in the universe, and none is destroyed. You want your mother to know that all your energy, every vibration, every Btu of heat, every wave of every particle that was her beloved child remains with her in this world. You want the physicist to tell your weeping father that amid energies of the cosmos, you gave as good as you got.
And at one point you’d hope that the physicist would step down from the pulpit and walk to your brokenhearted spouse there in the pew and tell him that all the photons that ever bounced off your face, all the particles whose paths were interrupted by your smile, by the touch of your hair, hundreds of trillions of particles, have raced off like children, their ways forever changed by you. And as your widow rocks in the arms of a loving family, may the physicist let her know that all the photons that bounced from you were gathered in the particle detectors that are her eyes, that those photons created within her constellations of electromagnetically charged neurons whose energy will go on forever.
And the physicist will remind the congregation of how much of all our energy is given off as heat. There may be a few fanning themselves with their programs as he says it. And he will tell them that the warmth that flowed through you in life is still here, still part of all that we are, even as we who mourn continue the heat of our own lives.
And you’ll want the physicist to explain to those who loved you that they need not have faith; indeed, they should not have faith. Let them know that they can measure, that scientists have measured precisely the conservation of energy and found it accurate, verifiable and consistent across space and time. You can hope your family will examine the evidence and satisfy themselves that the science is sound and that they’ll be comforted to know your energy’s still around. According to the law of the conservation of energy, not a bit of you is gone; you’re just less orderly. Amen.”
